From breakdown to lasting solution
How we tackle a recurring problem: with examples from our own workshop.
We look at the damage pattern: from experience we know what needs to be done.
First understand, then solve
In the photo above: in the old pump drive gearbox the pump shafts are not lubricated by the gearbox oil. As a result, they have to be checked every few years to inspect the wear, lubricate them and replace them if necessary, provided the parts are still available. It happens that a part is no longer available. Then complete replacement is the only good solution, and that also has advantages for future maintenance, because the new gearbox has been improved.
Below is a new model of pump drive gearbox, with a different type of synthetic oil and a larger oil capacity. In this one, the pump shafts are lubricated by the gearbox oil.
We regularly see older machines that are 20 years old or more. By using new, improved parts and techniques, they get a new lease of life. The oldest machine we maintain was built in 1986.
An example from practice
In the groove where the rings sit, dirt got wound in and built up. That is why we had felt rings made, with a nylon top ring that sits on top and closes off the groove.
Now dirt has no room any more, and it stays clean.
Sometimes a better part is the solution
If a part is simply too lightly built for the job, we look for a better one: stronger, easier to maintain and lasting a long time without maintenance. If it does not quite fit, we adapt it in our own workshop.
Example: an extractor fan with new wear plates →
